
Presentació del Team Montal 21
This past weekend, the ‘Team Montal 21’ was officially presented in Blanes, a new classic endurance motorcycling project driven by local rider Rafel Montells. The event featured prominent figures from the world of classic and speed motorcycling in Catalonia, with legendary pilot Benjamí Grau, known as ‘Min Grau’, leading the proceedings.
Benjamí Grau, celebrated for his eleven Spanish speed championship titles and five endurance championships, provided a historical context to the celebration, emphasizing his significant role in motorcycling during the 1970s. Known as the ‘King of Montjuïc’, he is remembered for his multiple victories at the Montjuïc 24 Hours race and his collaboration with other notable riders of the era.
The presentation also honoured the presence of other esteemed guests such as Josep Cardona, President of the Barcelona Motorcycling Club, and race director Javier Gil, along with former standout pilot José Luis de la Torre, ‘Rizos’. Their participation lent a sense of prestige to the event.
During the ceremony, Rafel Montells recognized these motorsport icons with special awards, including personalized bottles of local Cava Laviret and traditional laurel crowns symbolizing victory. The event showcased not just the team but the passion and camaraderie within the motorcycling community.
As the night concluded, Benjamí Grau officially endorsed the Team Montal 21, emphasizing the collective aspiration for success in the upcoming races. The event encapsulated the rich history and enthusiasm surrounding motorcycling in Blanes and the excitement for what lies ahead for the team.
